WALLPAPER(s): Fun with Light Rendering

Two wallpapers I was playing around with today worked from screenshots I've had on my big computer for a week or so. I really like how clean the first one turned out. I added a light source in the moon, cleaned up the edges on the crystals and water, and then did the dual layered framing to give it a little more center.

I really wish I hadn't saved over the original of the second one. I gave it a LOT more depth using multiple light sources, and did a bunch of work to the sail to make it really look like it was hanging in shreds. It's a really simple shot, maybe too simple for a wallpaper, but I like the dimension it has now, so I figured I'd throw it on here with the Exodar.

And there we have it. Yet another set of wallpapers in a resolution only I use. =)

WALLPAPER: Long Road Home

This one isn't really pretty, but I thought it turned out rather striking (in a good way-- otherwise I would not have put it up here). I was walking through the Western Plaguelands, on my tiger, all alone, and it just kind of struck me how out of place I looked. And, with the lighting and the skeleton my tiger is tromping on, it was more sad than funny.

So here's a wallpaper I did in an attempt to fully reflect the mood I was in when I took the screenie. I'll be shocked if anyone actually wants to use it because it's so dark, but here it is.

WALLPAPER: Ironforge Flight

Let's face it- gryphon rides give so many good opportunities for awesome wallpapers and the like. Here's my newest one, which is currently on my desktop.



This one actually took a lot of editing, as it was a spur-of-the-moment shot and there were people below me. But no longer! I also touched it up a good deal to get rid of any rough edges. The coloration, interestingly enough, has not been changed.

Tip Your Server

This one will probably require a little explanation. Last April Fool's Blizzard posted that a new command, /panda, would allow you to order chinese for your character and have it delivered anywhere in Azeroth by a pandaren. While it was of course untrue, it made for a rather funny mental image. The pandaren was taken from a fan art drawn by Josh Chodorou. I love it to death, so now it is a wallpaper. (And yes, I know it's technically Xpress, but I simply could NOT look at the word "Xpress" on my desktop without bursting a blood vessel.)

I have had a request to make a fullscreen version of this, so it will likely be posted soon. Keep in mind that these wallpapers are all slightly lower quality due to size limits on my hosting space, so if you want a clearer version, throw moosetree@gmail.com an e-mail.

Temple of the Moon

Not sure if this really counts as a wallpaper, since I did nothing to edit it, but then again...there was no need. I wish Darnassus were less out of the way. I think it's the prettiest of the three cities by far.

Gryphon Flight

This is actually a screenshot taken of me on shrinking noggenfogger, but the small size gives a nice illusion of distance. I didn't look at it for a long time, but then I pulled it up and noticed how great the lighting was, so I decided to tweak it and turn it into a wallpaper. Don't know if anyone would actually want it, since it is basically a pic of me, but it's pretty, so here it is to look at.

The Hills of Loch Modan

Took this one while questing on my warlock in Loch Modan. I just love how balanced the picture is, and the moon makes a great focal point. Yet another widescreen wallpaper. I blame it on the fact that it is IMPOSSIBLE to find any in my resolution.

Darnassus Gates

Anyone who has been to Darnassus should recognize this view. I love how bright it is. Available in 1440x900, though I'm sure I'd make a fullscreen one if asked nicely.

Theramore Night

This is a wallpaper I threw together quickly from a screenshot I really liked. I took the screenshot back before I knew you could alt+z and get rid of everything, so I had less space to work with than I would have liked. When I have time I plan on making a slightly better version where the bottom half is a very dark green to blend in better with the grass.

This looks really good on my monitor. Currently available in 1440x900, (just click and download) but it would be very easy to make a fullscreen version. If anyone's interested, e-mail moosetree@gmail.com with what you'd like.
