On warlocks, betas, and things I should have known

So, I played all through the beta of WoW, May to November 04. I got up there in levels as a Troll mage. Life was good. But I decided not to buy it because of no Battlegrounds and a lack of time and money. But this year, since I was arriving at school a week early with nothing to do and plenty of money, I figured, what the hell, I'll buy it. (read: Isra made me do it.)

Isra said the guild needed warlocks and priests. I'm not a big fan of priests. Played one in late beta for a bit, just not my cup of tea. So, warlock it is (hey, I like to be useful. plus I've done rogues and mages to DEATH.). Now, I had done a warlock for a bit early on in beta, and I hated it. Oh God, did I hate it. You know Westfall? You know the first field where you have to collect the oats? It's filled with level 8 and 9 mobs, pretty easy stuff. A level 11 Warlock had real trouble in beta, mainly because the Voidwalker was about as useful as a blue teddy bear (and much less cuddly). Shadow Bolt was also kinda lame.

So, I had my doubts that a Warlock was a viable class. But alas! I forgot that this is Blizzard, not SOE. This is Blizzard, the people who made even necromancers good in Diablo 2 (eventually). I get my imp, and already, it seems beter than beta. I keep going, and I get my Voidwalker. I go and kill some mobs. The voidwalker doesn't suck. The warlock is actually scaling with levels and not becoming useless for anything besides summoning and soulstones. Why did I doubt you, Blizzard? I felt dumb. Then I went over to Loch Modan and did the Gathering Idols quest (with mobs between 17 and 20) at level 15 without huge problems (just had to be careful with pulls). I felt more dumb.

Warlocks don't suck. Blizzard actually fixed things, and I shouldn't doubt them. I want PvP already.
