Yet more questing in Outland with Rastel. We were working on a series of elite quests when two Undead Warlocks run up. We do the classic pause, wait awkwardly....
And then the Warlocks /wave. So we drop our guard and go back to summoning our elite bossman.
Which, apparently, they were trying to summon too. Ours pops first, so we attack it, just as one of the nearby elites adds to the battle. I start freaking out, Rastel is attempting to tell me that yes, we ARE badass enough to do this, when I notice that the 'locks have taken the add.
I never thought I could love a dessicated, demon-summoning corpse, but those two were quite the sexy beasts in that moment. Chalk it off to adrenaline, or just absolute squee at the fact that not only were we going to not die, but that my "enemies" were being genuinely nice.
After the battle, we thank them profusely, mount up, and get ready to head off. Then we realize that they are asking us to wait. So we ponder for a moment, and then it sinks in that they want help with the elite. Which we feel is only fair, since in some lights it could seem like we took their kill.
Alright then. They summon it, we let them claim the kill, then we start wailing on it. I was tweaking out because I couldn't heal them and I was terrified I was going to accidentally attack one of them (Rastel was worried he was going to AoE out of habit), but the battle ended quickly with all parties still alive.
We kept seeing them around all day, which was good, because they were in party when the Horde outnumbered us, and we think they kept us from getting ganked on more than one occasion.
Unfortunately, it's not always easy to keep the opposing faction alive. We were off in a different area waiting to kill another massive elite alongside at least six other Alliance when a different 'lock wanders up, sees us, and pauses. It's obvious he has a "well, fuck it, I'm dead at this point anyway" moment before continuing to amble over. The elite spawns, and Rastel pulls.
Pause here to gloat. The party of five waiting to take down the elite see the two of us prepare to duo this guy, stand back, and go "oh, this should be good." Rastel is tanking, and I'm debuffing and healing like a mofo, and there are six other people standing behind me waiting for us to go out in a blaze of shame.
But not the 'lock. He dives on in when the elite is at half health and throws a few debuffs of his own on. At this point I've still got a ton of mana and Rastel has been at full health for the duration of the battle. The Alliance behind us decide sadly that we're not going to wipe after all and start halfheartedly throwing things at the elite in disappointment. Elite goes down, we thank the 'lock, and wait around for the elite to respawn because I want to heal for the party of five (not a healer in the bunch, the morons.)
Suddenly, out of nowhere, an Alliance rogue pops up and backstabs our 'lock friend. Every single Alliance in the area is screaming at her, but she keeps wailing on him until he dies.
What a bitch. If he's standing in a group of nine Alliance and is still among the living, shouldn't that be a sign that he's off-limits?
