This is me, posing regally beside the epic mount I can't quite afford yet. I'm at 470 gold, and now the epics cost 640 total, so I'll probably have it by the end of the week. I'm a complete dork and pick my mounts based on how I think they match my gear and coloring, and since I am a very purple night-elf, I figure a very dark and spotted kitty is the way to go.
Plus, I don't see many people riding these guys around.
People have pulled the expansion pack elitism and asked why I am even bothering to get an epic mount when I get Travel Form in six levels and am eligible for a flying mount in two more after that. My answer is quite simple: Flying mounts don't work everywhere. In fact, currently they only work in six zones. Epic kitties can run over any zone currently open for play. And if I have a Travel Form, I don't see why I can't just use that while I save up for my flying epic.
I'm averaging close to 100g a day in Outland, anyway, and that's without running any instances. I've decided not to level either of my jobs until I am level 70, bored, riding a white gryphon, and rich, so all the mats I am getting from (dis)enchanting are going directly to the Auction House (though I am hoarding Netherweave in my bank like some sort of small nesting mammal).
I hate leveling jobs with a passion, anyway. I'd rather do it when there's nothing else for me to do again but PVP and farm for rep. Especially since leveling enchanting, on top of being absolutely infuriating, makes one completely broke very, very quickly.
So Nightsaber it is. I can't be a respectable druid without an armored kitty, anyway.
