I was questing in Hellfire Peninsula with Rastel today when I was attacked by a level 62 druid. I guess he thought I would go down easily-- and for that very reason he is an idiot. One of the first things I learned while PVPing was to never attack another druid if I wanted to move on and do something else at any point before sunrise. Two level 60 druid guildies of mine once attempted to duel, and they ended up forfeiting after almost two hours of fighting. Crowds gathered, then got bored and went away. Even the novelty of their inability to destroy each other had managed to wear off.
We simply cannot kill each other. At least back then, when the only decent spec was restoration. Even now, many Druids don't do damage fast enough to kill other players with multiple heal over time abilities. I have ended long battles with full health AND full mana. How are you supposed to kill someone who can do the exact same thing?
Now this guy probably thought he had an edge on me because he was both feral spec and two levels higher than me. I also assume he could tell by my play style that I was a tree druid (my pet name for Restoration spec). Unfortunately, he didn't think about the fact that I can heal away any and all damage he does as he is doing it. I may not be able to kill him myself, but I am certainly not going to die.
But, most importantly, he failed to take into account that Rastel is a level 61 Paladin.
The battle was almost sad. I admire his tenacity, but I weep for my class.
